Meet Dr. Guran

Dr. Guran's (she/her) unique path to gynecology reflects her holistic, patient-centered approach to medicine.

Before earning her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in 2017, she completed a Master's in Public Health from the University of Maryland. She worked as a doula & childbirth educator. As a community organizer & patient advocate, she was part of the team that founded the Birth Options Alliance in 2007.

Prior to pursuing medical training she worked with a coalition of consumers, midwives & birth advocates to begin the process of making midwifery services more accessible in Maryland. During her residency training she worked with and learned from nurse midwives and has carried her commitment to listening to and trusting patients throughout her medical practice.

Central to her practice is a deep commitment to addressing healthcare disparities. Her work in public health, involvement with social justice movements, fluency in Spanish, and membership in the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) provide her with a deep understanding of structural inequalities in healthcare and enable her to serve diverse populations effectively.

Founded in 2024, Spectrum Gynecology offers comprehensive gynecological care to traditionally underserved populations in and around Silver Spring, Maryland. This includes transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming individuals, as well as uninsured people.

In her free time, Dr. Guran enjoys spending time with her 2 grown children & all their pets. She enjoys being outdoors, kayaking or exploring the natural world. Closer to home she enjoys crafting & strives to remind herself that her worth as an artisan is not dependent on the beauty of her creations!
